"Religious education must be open, honest, and respectful, enabling children to develop their own beliefs while appreciating those of others."
Religious Education Curriculum
At Fiddlers Lane Primary School, Religious Education plays an important role in developing pupils’ understanding of the diverse world in which they live. Through RE, children are encouraged to explore beliefs, values and traditions, while developing respect, empathy and curiosity about different faiths, worldviews and cultures.
Our RE curriculum is delivered in line with the Salford Agreed Syllabus, ensuring that pupils gain a strong and balanced understanding of Christianity alongside other principal religions and non‑religious worldviews represented in modern Britain. We follow the Oak National Academy RE scheme to support high‑quality teaching, clear progression and consistency across all year groups. This approach enables children to build knowledge and understanding year on year, while engaging thoughtfully with key questions about meaning, belief and morality.
RE lessons provide opportunities for discussion, reflection and enquiry, helping children to develop critical thinking skills and articulate their own beliefs and values with confidence and respect. Pupils learn through stories, artefacts, visits, discussion and thoughtful questioning, which enrich their understanding and encourage them to see both similarities and differences between religions and worldviews.
Through our RE curriculum, we aim to nurture open minded, reflective learners who value diversity and understand the importance of mutual respect. By the time they leave Fiddlers Lane Primary School, our pupils are equipped with the knowledge, understanding and attitudes needed to live harmoniously in a diverse and ever‑changing society.
