PE Curriculum
At Fiddlers Lane Primary School, Physical Education plays a vital role in developing healthy, happy and confident children. We believe that high‑quality PE helps pupils build physical skills, resilience, teamwork and self‑belief, while promoting lifelong positive attitudes towards health and wellbeing. Our PE curriculum is inclusive, engaging and designed to ensure all children are active, challenged and successful.
We deliver PE through a combination of our PE Passport scheme and expert external PE coaches, ensuring a broad, balanced and progressive curriculum. This approach allows children to develop fundamental movement skills in the Early Years before building competence, confidence and enjoyment across a wide range of sports and physical activities as they move through the school. High‑quality resources, clear progression and skilled instruction ensure that every child can flourish, regardless of ability or experience.
Swimming is a key part of our PE provision. Pupils take part in regular swimming lessons at Irlam and Cadishead Leisure Centre, helping them to develop essential water‑safety skills, confidence and stamina. Our aim is that all children leave primary school able to swim competently and understand the importance of keeping themselves safe in and around water.
We provide a wealth of opportunities beyond the curriculum to inspire a love of sport and physical activity. Children can take part in a wide range of extra‑curricular clubs, intra‑school competitions and inter‑Trust sporting events, giving them the chance to represent their school, develop leadership skills and experience healthy competition. We work closely with local partners including ICA, Manchester United Football Club, Salford Red Devils and Salford Sharks, offering pupils exciting opportunities to learn from professional environments and role models.
Through our commitment to high quality PE, enrichment opportunities and strong community partnerships, we aim to nurture active, motivated and confident learners who understand the importance of physical activity for both their physical and mental wellbeing now and for life.
